rooftop shoot

Alright - I have been bad this last week with my blog so I thought I would post an image I took last week for an architectural firm. They wanted a picture of their penthouse view. Problem was, the penthouse was not built yet and was two stories from the existing rooftop. So a very tall ladder and three guys holding onto the bottom of my pants later, I got this panoramic which consists of 22 images. It was a blast to shoot and at least I knew that no matter what happened, my pants would be safe!

Jennifer and Lawrence

Jennifer and Lawrence were so much fun to photograph. You could tell that they were very much in love and everyone was excited to celebrate with them. It was such a gorgeous wedding (not to mention the couple!). There was supposed to be pouring rain and high winds all day, but the weather decided to hold off the storm until the party got started at night. Very considerate!

Here is the happy couple at the DAR

ok - I cant resist adding detail shots

This was such a cool church with the funkiest ceiling.

The bouquet (English Tea Garden) was perfect for spring.

Susan Gage Catering as always did a fabulous job with the catering and setting up of the room - I love them! The unique cake was made by Padua of Suga Chef.

This is one of my favorites of Jennifer.

Jennifer and Lawrence on a balcony at DAR which could have easily passed for a Parisian rooftop!

trip of a lifetime!

If you are reading my blog that means you are procrastinating just a little. Take it a step further and go to google maps , enter "New York NY" to "London". Check out the directions and pay attention to step #23. Frankly this would take me more than 29 days! At least its true when they say, google maps might not be the fastest way, but it sure will get you there in the end!

US postal service joins the Jedi

I was scouting Georgetown today for a shoot, when I bumped into an R2D2 mailbox! Of course being the nerd that I am (and finding this extremely funny) it immediately peaked my interest. So I grabed a picture and went to the website. Seems like you can vote for your favorite Star Wars stamp which then will be printed ...and you then become a Jedi of shipping and mailing!I guess now we know what happened to R2D2 after the galactic war ended. Wow - I am nerdy!

John Paul Caponigro

Yesterday we (asmpdc) had the pleasure of having John Paul Caponigro speak to us. The afternoon seminar covered the finer points on printing and the complexities of the color gamut. In the evening he spoke about his travels and experiences while sharing the most amazing imagery. Looking at his photographs, we all wondered "how did he do that!?" If you ever have the chance to hear John speak - take it, you wont regret it! He's incredibly passionate about what he does, always pushing the envelope. You will walk away inspired, with a new perspective on the world.

Spring Fever in NY

I just came back from the ever-exciting city of NY! I went up there with my photo buddy Shane Carpenter (thanks for the pumpkin seeds - yummy!) to celebrate the coming of spring with the hottest folks in the wedding industry and meet some really fun clients at the Union Square Ballroom! Did I forget to mention it snowed on our way up there. Of course I couldnt resist taking some detail shots before the crowds arrived.

Swank Productions and Levy Lighting made the ballroom look amazing.

CECI New York brought their fabulous stationary.

I just loved the cakes from April Reed - talk about a photogenic cake and yummy to boot.

Apparently the weather wasnt quite into the spring mode yet.

the year is off to a fine start

Uh-oh, my blog is only two days old and already I am hooked. So much for my once a week entry! I just wanted to share two images that placed in the prestigious WPJA and [AG]WPJA contest. It was the final of the quarterly contests of '06 but the results came out this year and I received two placings - woohoo!

The first one is one of my favorite images! The judge wrote: "A great play on dark and light comes across well in this stair shot. Strong vignetting helps to reinforce the blown out rectangle the bride is walking into. Also the lines of the stairwell graphically work really well together to creat a very balanced image" Why, thank you!

This was probably the most emotional wedding I ever photographed! Everyone was laughing, crying (happy crying!), hugging and dancing! This is the groom's reaction watching his bride-to-be walking down the aisle. Doesnt get any better than that!

Welcome to the Blog!

I am excited to get this blog started! I will post happenings and of course pictures .. many many pictures. Warm up those fingers and get ready to scroll! Feel free to drop by and leave a comment. The more the merrier!

So in the spirit of spring and a fresh start, I am posting some pictures that I took at the Tidal Basin with the cherry blossoms in DC this morning. My fellow photog friend Patrick O'Brien and I braved the throngs of crazy early-riser photographers (yes were were one of them, but still!) and weasled our way in, to somehow get a shot without our fellow snappers walking in front of our cameras.
